Observer Groningen

We would like to give our new observer a warm welcome to EESTEC and all our support for their recently created association. Since they have some of our most experienced members with them, we expect them to get involved quickly in our activities and become a local committee really soon.

We hope that during the rest of the year and with all your help, EESTEC will continue spreading in Europe in order to achieve a even bigger and more diverse network.

Below, some words from our new fellow members:

Founded almost 400 years ago, the University of Groningen enjoys an international reputation as one of the oldest and leading research universities in Europe. University offers degree programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels in virtually every field, many of them completely taught in English. Located in the north of the Netherlands, Groningen is an ideal, safe student city with a flourishing student life.
As for bringing additional value to EESTEC, we can just say that Groningen is a university city, inhabited on average by about 50,000 students. Groningen's nightlife depends largely on its student population. Its cultural scene is vibrant and remarkable for a city of its size. In particular, the City Center is crowded every night of the week, and most bars do not close until 7 in the morning. Between 2006 and the present, Groningen was elected "de beste binnenstad" (the best city centre) of the Netherlands. There are also a lot of coffee shops and red-light districts, which gives additional excitement to the city.
We hope that we will be able to host first group of EESTECers soon enough and show them the spirit of City of Groningen and the magic of Dutch culture!
