ESA - Fly Your Thesis! - An Astronaut Experience

The European Space Agency is proud to announce the second edition of “Fly your Thesis! – An Astronaut Experience”. Through this exciting programme a select number of university teams throughout Europe will be given the opportunity to fly their experiments in microgravity.

Each participating team of students is required to design and build - as part of their Masters/PhD research - a scientific experiment to be performed in microgravity on the Airbus A300 Zero-G aircraft. This specially designed aircraft flies in parabolas to simulate both micro- and hyper-gravity, giving students (and their experiments) a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is both uniquely thrilling and rewarding.

In order to apply for the programme, teams should submit a proposal using the Letter of Intent template. This template and all relevant instructions can be found on the ESA Education Website.

The deadline for the submission of Letters of Intent is the 22 June 2009.
