Wappu, or as you might know it May Day or Workers' Day, has a special place in Finnish student life. Some even say that it's not just a celebration day, but a time of year. Some even go as far as to say that it's a state of mind.
Students in Tampere University of Technology celebrate Wappu by organizing more than 80 individual events over the two week celebration. We, LC Tampere, want to invite you to Hervanta, Tampere to see the best parts of this interesting time of year by organizing an exchange between 26th of April and 2nd of May. It has been 10 years since EESTECers took part of this celebration! Come to see how thousands of people gather together at midnight to see when statue gets a cap, see the same people gather for morning gymnastics at 7 AM and cranes dipping freshmen to freezing, icy water while the whole city is watching. On top of these unique traditions, we offer you a lot of free time and random events at our beloved campus. Enjoy picnics, hanging out and possibly even sunny weather. Chances to see this kind of unique event clusters are rare, and so are the chances to visit Nordic countries via EESTEC. We keep you well fed and entertained, offer you a place to sleep with a price that would not be possible in many other places in Finland. Also keeping your body well hydrated won’t drive you to bankruptcy.
